The year-round population grew by 2,500 from 2013 to 2018, a 15% jump in six years.[1] Plus school enrollment is up 39% since 2000.[2] The year-round population continues to grow.

The median single-family home sold for $1.9M in 2018[3] compared to $385,000 for Massachusetts as a whole.[4]

POTENTIAL REMEDIES:

  • Work on creative ways to add to the affordable housing inventory that are attainable for the year-round community
  • An equity-sharing program to make home-buying attainable for income levels beyond traditional affordable housing
  • A fact-based, data-driven approach to managing growth/development to encourage accessible housing solutions
  • Lobbying at the State to push for changes, such as allowing covenant homes to count on the SHI list
